Q: Why can't our instructors build their own courses?
A: They can. With the Pearson eCollege and it's learning systems it is very easy for instructors to build their own courses. The main problem is quite the opposite. Ironically, these companies have made it too easy to build course content. With software so easy to use suddenly every instructor thinks they are a course developer. Sadly, it just isn't so. Simple software in the hands of a novice online course developer can lead to very poor course design and construction. If you instructors have never built or taught online classes then you need to seriously consider hiring professionals to do the work or train and support your faculty on the first go-around.
