Instructional Design and Course Development

Q: What are the main challenges instructors face when building and teaching a web-based course?

A: Three factors are often cited as the reasons why many instructors have never taught online: concern over quality of courses, concern about instructors workload and the lack of release time.  Providing your instructors with course development support can mitigate these factors by providing instructors with consultants who in effect serve as “outsourced teaching assistants”.  Professional course developers have the time and skill to build quality courses.  This leaves your instructor with more time to focus on developing the course objectives, researching the required content and devising the exercises that will teach that content.
